Anthony (Tony) McGruther is an Australian educator, social justice advocate, and passionate storyteller. Tony has spent his life working to create better futures for young people—especially those doing it tough.

With a deep love of history and a belief in the power of stories to make change, Tony travelled from Australia to New Orleans to uncover the untold experiences of those trapped in the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina.

The result is Hell & High Water—his debut novel and a tribute to the resilience, trauma, and courage of those who lived through one of America’s darkest chapters.

Tony lives in Queensland, Australia with his wife Carol, also a teacher.
